Due diligence of 3 MFIs and 1 NGO MF program in the framework of the MicroLead program of the UNCDF: Sinapi Aba Trust, ARB APEX Bank, EB Accion Savings & Loans; and CARE Ghana (2012).

MicroLead, a global initiative to support the development and roll-out of deposit services by regulated financial service providers, seeks to respond to the rural vacuum of services. With the generous support of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, The MasterCard Foundation and the LIFT Fund in Myanmar, MicroLead is working with a variety of FSPs and TSPs to reach rural markets with demand-driven, responsibly priced products offered via alternative delivery channels in combination with financial education so that customers not only have access but actually use quality services.

We have reviewed, analyzed and scored applications from financial service providers and technical service providers, which submitted applications (SWOT analysis) and provided suggestions on funding conditions.

Due diligences were subsequently conducted for best applicants in Burundi (COSPEC), Rwanda (UMERENGE SACCO, UNGUKAGA, UMWALIMU) and Ghana (Sinapi Aba Trust, EAS&L, ARB Apex Bank Ltd., CARE).
